An Elegant and Customized Destination Wedding
Organizing a wedding at Palazzo Zeno in Venice has been a unique experience, combining the timeless elegance of the lagoon city with personalized details that tell the couple’s love story. Recently, I had the pleasure of designing and planning a destination wedding at Palazzo Zeno for a special couple: the bride, originally from Italy, lives with her groom in England. This exclusive event successfully blended Venetian charm with references to British culture, offering international guests an unforgettable experience.
The wedding took place in the enchanting garden of Palazzo Zeno, with a symbolic ceremony featuring bucolic and romantic decorations. The chosen color palette was vibrant and colorful, echoed by the bridesmaids’ dresses and the floral arrangements carefully designed for the occasion. During the outdoor aperitif, guests enjoyed traditional Venetian finger foods served at elegant food stations.
As a wedding planner in Venice, my goal was to create a refined and personalized design that honored the couple’s countries of origin. The tribute to Venice was represented by a sophisticated tableau de mariage made of fabric, framed by a vintage golden frame, and adorned with a traditional Venetian mask. London, on the other hand, was celebrated through a fun Photo Booth shaped like a British telephone box.
The place cards, designed as small masks decorated with sage green petals and book page cuttings, added a poetic and personal touch. These details were arranged along a long imperial table, at the heart of a beautiful hall within Palazzo Zeno. Completing the setting, stacks of books—symbolizing the couple’s love for reading—were alternated with golden flower vases and candleholders adorned with ribbons.
The reception was accompanied by a live band that enhanced the festive atmosphere, culminating in a picturesque cake cutting in the cloister. The bride wore a different dress for this special moment, while a wellhead adorned with colorful floral compositions provided the perfect backdrop.
