Jadé Fadojutimi at the 2022 Art Biennale: a pop-inspired dinner party among glass and ice

Jadé Fadojutimi, British artist among the 25 most influential women according to Vogue Britain, was selected to display her works at the 59. International Art Exhibition. Galerie Gisela Capitain in Cologne, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery in London and Taka Ishii Gallery in Hong Kong hired us to plan and design an exclusive event in her honor.
We designed a pop-inspired dinner party, in the evocativeGlass Cathedral in Murano, a renovated former church with an working furnace inside. In the industrial style halls, characterized by exposed bricks, antique mirrors and wonderful Murano glass chandeliers, round and square poufs have been arranged, in shades of fuchsia, yellow and red. These, combined with a mix of tropical plants, created a triumph of colours, textures and materials that recall the eclectic personality and vibrant brushstrokes of Jadé Fadojutimi.
Guests reached the location by water taxi, via a private jetty illuminated by Japanese-inspired lanterns, a culture that has influenced the painter’s works. Once through the entrance, they were greeted by an unforgettable show: in the center of the room, illuminated by purple lights, we placed an enormous ice sculpture, a panda and a hippopotamus – two animals the artist loves -, holding each other forever, decorated with asymmetrical fuchsia carnations arrengements.
Between toasts and traditional Venetian finger food, the dinner soon turned into a wild party, with guests dancing to the music of two DJs. Acrobatic barmen served cocktails and Champagne and delicious desserts end the night: gluten-free gourmet brownies decorated with edible flowers, fried cream and almond brittle.
