Bohémien inspiration for an alternative wedding
“I wanted the road to stretch ahead of me as far as the eye could see and a new place every day, I wanted to go for miles and miles without any idea where I was heading. I wanted a nomadic life. I was a nomad at heart.”
Nomad like a dried leaf carried by the autumn wind. Like a gypsy caravan that only stops to celebrate a fall wedding, among seasonal fruits, fortune tellers and moon rituals. Starting from these suggestive images, we planned and designed an inspiration wedding with a bohémien and esoteric touch, choosing Locanda Rosa Rosae, in the Veneto region in Northern Italy, as our location. The perfect place to welcome travelers.
The open-air symbolic ceremony took place under a floral arch shaped like a crescent moon and made of fall branches, leaves and berries. The garments we chose recalled the colors of the season and were based on a gypsy aesthetic, as if they came from the suitcases of two travelers.
The wedding invitations were decorated as if they were tarot cards with a small crystal ball tied to them, while the ruby wedding rings in yellow gold were enclosed in a wooden box.
The dinner tables were decorated with colorful candles and lavish compositions created with pumpkins, flowers, leaves and berries. The guests found their place on the tableau mariage, consisting of tarot cards hung and placed on a well. Each table bore the name of a major arcana and this was illustrated on both the cards and the table sign, while the placeholders were designed as small dream catchers.
The cutting of the cake took place in the presence of a fortune teller who predicted the couple’s future, among crystal spheres, cards and pendulums. After having the place purified by burning white sage and incense, she read guests’ fates on tarot cards and handed their wedding favors over to them, consisting of palo santo and a crystal. It was thus an engaging and interactive experience.
Last but not least, the music of an acoustic guitar, played by the groom, accompanied the celebrations around a bonfire. One last dance was the perfect ending of this fall wedding before leaving for a lifetime journey.
