A Gala Dinner in Honor of Trevor Yeung

An exclusive event for the Hong Kong Pavilion at the Venice Art Biennale 2024
On the occasion of the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2024, we had the honor of designing and producing the official event for the Hong Kong Pavilion, commissioned by the prestigious M+ museum of contemporary visual culture. The event, an elegant gala dinner in honor of Trevor Yeung, the artist representing the pavilion, took place in one of Venice’s most breathtaking venues: the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista.
The entire event design was conceived to reflect the artistic world and themes explored by Trevor Yeung in his exhibition Courtyard of Attachments, which delves into nature, emotional landscapes, and human connections. Guests were welcomed by an impressive LED wall featuring the official logos and a backdrop of moving bubbles, which also served as a dynamic photo booth. The ground floor, where a standing cocktail reception took place, came to life with glowing furniture, surfaces covered in moss and grass, soft lighting, and aquatic plants adorning the bases of the venue’s historical columns.
The gala dinner was held on the upper floor beneath a magnificent frescoed ceiling. Illuminated tables were set with an ethereal tablescape, blending clear, green, and light blue glassware with aquatic plant centerpieces enclosed in glass domes. At the start of the dinner, waiters uncovered the domes, releasing a gentle mist that recreated the ambiance of an enchanted, submerged garden.
The sustainable menu, curated by a renowned local catering team, highlighted seasonal ingredients and regional flavors. After dinner, guests enjoyed a selection of traditional Venetian pastries in a refined mignon format.
Every detail was carefully crafted, from the artisan-made stationery—menus, place cards, and escort cards on paper embedded with moss or leaves—to the live music performance and open bar that brought the evening to a close.
This event at the Venice Art Biennale is a perfect example of how event planning can become a form of art itself, transforming space and atmosphere into a multi-sensory narrative that aligns with the artist’s vision and the significance of the occasion.
